Interior Health is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team on a full time permanent basis.
This position offers a flexible work location from within the Interior Health Region and will require occasional travel to the office in Kelowna when required.
**Experience of Cloud Microsoft Azure or Fabric, SQL and Databricks is highly desired for this position.**

Salary Range:
Salary range for the position is $90,770 to $130,481. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
About the job:
In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Data Engineer provides expertise in the building, monitoring, and maintenance of data products. Collaborates with data partners, ensures data governance, and enables report writers. Maintains and renovates data products including supporting solutions, services, systems, and infrastructure adapting security, performance, and cost to meet changing business needs. Stays current with technical trends and best practices to maintain and promote data and analytics expertise.
Typical duties and responsibilities:
• Partners with business representatives, data subject area experts, and report developers to create and maintain data pipeline architectures supplying data warehouse services including exploration, data standardization, optimization, access, maintenance, monitoring, and automation.
• Partners with infrastructure departments to supply database services including installation, access, maintenance, monitoring, optimization, and automation.
• Supplies day to day technical support for requirement gathering, data management, and lifecycle management as database, data pipeline, and data warehouse subject matter experts.
• Partners with data governance, information security, and information privacy departments to ensure solutions meet architecture best practice, policy, and regulatory requirements.
• Works within ITIL Service Delivery framework for incident management, service requests, change control, and management of configuration items and knowledge bases.
• Participates in data engineering and associated communities sharing knowledge and guidance to peers and colleagues ensuring existing processes are kept current, developing new processes, and help increase data and analytics competencies for the organization.
• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, Masters preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of industry experience in Software Development, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Science, or related field with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets.
• SQL coding skills.
• Source controls best practices.
• Familiarity with the underlying server operating systems, networks, active directory, command line, and automation.
• Cloud or related technical certifications is an asset.
• Course work in a health-related area or experience working in the healthcare field is an asset.

• Maintain connections with honest and trustworthy collaborations over a range of audiences and channels.
• Start new work and carry-on job duties without direct supervision.

• General knowledge of current healthcare issues and health information standards.
