Interior Health is looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to join the team on a full-time term basis from our Kelowna location.

**This position is for a 2 year term duration.**

This position offers some remote work but also requires attending in office meetings, candidates will need to be located within daily commute of Kelowna.

We are seeking a technically gifted and driven Senior Software Developer to join our Health information Exchange team in Kelowna. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the Clinical Data Exchange (CDX) ecosystem, focusing on the development of critical tools and services within our on-prem and cloud-based environments. You will be responsible for designing, writing, and maintaining complex custom programs using C# and .NET, while ensuring these applications are seamlessly integrated across the health authority.

Beyond technical execution, we are looking for a professional who brings a strong work ethic and a positive attitude to our complex environment—someone who can solve problems creatively and engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

As a senior member of the team, leadership and mentorship are core components of your daily impact. You will conduct feasibility studies, gather detailed user requirements, and guide projects from preliminary analysis through to post-implementation review. A significant part of this role involves advising and supporting junior developers to ensure our custom software routines meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. While expertise in C# and .NET is essential, a working knowledge of HL7 standards will be highly beneficial as well

About the job:
In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Senior Software Developer performs a variety of duties to ensure the provision of effective implementation, maintenance and support of information system projects throughout Interior Health according to established policies, procedures and standards.

Typical duties and responsibilities:
- Conducts feasibility studies for computerization by determining user department requirements; examining and identifying problems with existing systems and recommending modifications to and/or new systems; provides details of estimated implementation costs including associated staffing requirements.

- Undertakes complex system development projects from preliminary analysis to post implementation review by:
a) Gathering detailed information from users
b) Developing and documenting systems and procedures
c) Detailing hardware and software specifications
d) Preparing detailed implementation plans and schedules
e) Estimating resource requirements
f) Monitoring and reporting implementation progress
g) Conducting post implementation reviews

- As a member of the team, consults and participates in the evaluation of client, server and system software.

- As a member of the team, provides support and advice to Business and Clinical Analysts related to the creation and implementation of complex applications, programs and routines.

- Designs, writes and maintains custom programs and routines for software applications using programming languages and standards such as C#, SQL, ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript, VBScript, CSS and XML.

- Configures, tests, supports and maintains complex and/or large-scale applications that are integrated across multiple departments and throughout Interior Health.

- As a member of the team, advises junior software developers in the development and support of custom software programs and routines in order to meet specific application needs.

- Plans, implements and evaluates educational training programs and provides related training to meet the learning needs of users within the areas/departments with respect to a) education of new users and b) the continuing education of users regarding system upgrades and new technology.

- Liaises with vendors to ensure that software and systems issues are resolved in a timely and cost effective manner.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from a recognized degree or diploma program in Computer Science, three years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
 Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
 Ability to deal with others effectively.
 Ability to organize work.
 Ability to write programs in a variety of programming languages.
 Ability to operate related equipment.
 Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
