Senior Benefits Advisor (WORKSITE LOCATION IS FLEXIBLE)

Position Summary

Interior Health is hiring a term-specific full-time Senior Benefits Advisor who is passionate about making a difference in healthcare. The end date of this position is approximately May 19, 2027 or until the return of the incumbent. This location for this position is flexible within the Interior Health region.

Salary Range:

Salary range for the position is $69,218 to $99,501. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact:

The Senior Benefits Advisor coordinates daily operations and serves as a subject matter expert for the Benefits Advisor team. In addition to providing guidance and support, this role performs core Benefits Advisor functions, including determining employee eligibility and benefit entitlements for assigned client groups.

The Senior Benefits Advisor administers a variety of benefit plans, programs, and accruals in accordance with provider guidelines, Collective Agreements, and the Terms and Conditions (T&C) of Employment for executive and non-contract staff. This role also provides benefit plan information, guidance, and support to health and community care facilities as needed.

In addition, the Senior Benefits Advisor contributes to the development of programs and supports the ongoing operations and continuous improvement of departmental processes.

What will you work on:

1. Coordinates Benefits Advisor HR functions, ensuring processing efficiencies. Monitors and prioritizes the daily workload for the Benefits Advisors. Determines and provides recommendations to the Leader, Employee Benefits & Records regarding the required training for team members and implements accordingly.

2. Provides benefit plan information and support to individual healthcare facilities and community care facilities in assigned client groups. Processes Collective Agreement and Employment Standards changes to benefit entitlements. Recommends revisions or changes to various administrative procedures as they relate to benefit administration.

3. Ensures that Collective Agreement language and Provincial mandates are compliant.

4. Builds and maintains communication and relationships with managers and staff within IH and other key partners.

5. Represents the department as subject matter expert with Scheduling, Labour Relations, Payroll, IMIT, Benefit Carriers, and other Health Authorities.

6. Provides critical analysis and evaluation of data by creating and manipulating spreadsheets, reporting data back to staff for review and correction where applicable.

7. Prepares data/reports as assigned for contract and compliance.

8. Develops benefit information presentations for management and staff as required.

9. Audits non-insured benefit accruals for applicable adjustments. Audits insured benefits for changes in entitlement.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

• A Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
• Three to five years of recent, related experience preferably working in a large, unionized HR office
• A thorough knowledge of relevant Collective Agreements, the Pension Act, policies, and employee benefit programs.
• Or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

**Experience with benefits and a working knowledge of Collective Agreements are considered assets.
