Salary range for the position is $118,923 to $170,951. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact:
The Director develops and maintains strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to achieve program goals, including leaders within the organization, other health authorities, unions, the Ministry and insurers. The Director represents Interior Health (IH) and provincial tables and contributes expertise and perspective to the ongoing development and implementation of provincial psychological health and safety priorities and objectives.

What will you work on:
• Plans, develops and implements policies, procedures, programs and services for Interior Health to achieve Ministry and organizational priorities, and meet regulatory and collective agreement obligations for psychological health and safety and employee health and wellness.

• Identifies emerging opportunities, trends and risks by monitoring and reporting key indicators, assessing impact on quality and safety outcomes and recommending improvements and corrective actions. Develops and implements solutions.

• Builds and maintains strong partnerships with IH portfolios, unions, the Ministry of Health, and other regional and provincial stakeholders to support coordinated wellness efforts.

• Provides leadership for the management of sick leave, WorkSafe BC, and LTD claims, ensuring the implementation of proactive prevention strategies, safe return-to-work processes, and effective accommodation programs.

• Ensures attendance, claims management and accommodation practices comply with collective agreements and are delivered through collaborative, wellness-focused approaches that support organizational effectiveness.

• Establishes short, medium, and long-term goals and objectives for the department with clear planning and prioritization framework considering constraints, opportunities and challenges in order to ensure priority work is completed.

• Provides leadership and direction to department staff, including coaching, performance evaluation, fostering professional development, and participating in recruitment, hiring and discipline decisions.

• Develops, recommends and manages department budget, monitoring expenditures, conducting variance analysis, preparing reports, and implementing corrective actions to ensure sustainable and responsive operations.

• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience
• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Health Informatics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• A minimum of ten years of recent, progressively senior experience in complex management/leadership roles in a large, multi-union healthcare environment preferred.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
