Position Summary

We are hiring for a permanent full-time Anesthesia Assistant for the Penticton Regional Hospital.

Shift times/Hours of work: 07:00 – 17:30, 09:00 – 19:30

About the role:
The Anesthesia Assistant to support anesthesiologists in the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care across all phases of anesthesia, including induction, maintenance, and recovery. This role combines advanced clinical and technical responsibilities, such as assisting with airway management, invasive procedures, and patient monitoring; preparing and administering medications under direction; and operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment. The successful candidate will monitor patient status, support complex procedures (e.g., fibre-optic intubation, bronchoscopy), assist with emergency interventions, and help manage ventilated patients. Additional responsibilities include equipment quality assurance, inventory management, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and providing education to staff. This position requires strong clinical judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based operating room environment.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited post-graduate Anesthesia Assistant diploma program.
Current certified clinical anesthesia assistant (CCAA).
Registered or associate member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT).
Eligible for membership in the Canadian Anesthesia Society (CAS), eligible for membership in the BC Society of Anesthesia Assistants (BCSAA).
Current certificates in CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
