Disability Claims Coordinator | Workplace Health & Safety

Position Summary

Interior Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient and self -directed Permanent Full Time Disability Claims Coordinator to support the Workplace Health & Safety team. This position is based out of the Community Health and Services Centre in beautiful and sunny Kelowna, B.C.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate is skilled in disability case management and experienced in coordinating return-to-work (RTW) and recovery plans for employees with occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses. This individual brings strong communication and relationship-building abilities, enabling them to effectively collaborate with employees, managers, unions, insurers, and internal partners to support safe and timely returns to work. We are looking for someone that is confident in assessing needs, identifying early intervention opportunities, facilitating modified or alternate work arrangements, and managing complex cases in partnership with health and wellness advisors. The successful candidate demonstrates sound judgment, discretion, and analytical skills, with the ability to maintain accurate documentation, compile statistical data, and prepare reports using relevant software applications. Salary Range:

Salary range for the position is $57,347 to $75,268. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

What will you work on?

The Employee Health & Wellness Facilitator provides effective case management and administrative support for the Employee Health & Wellness process for occupational/non-occupational portfolios within Interior Health (IH) by assisting return to work support services that encompass assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, facilitating, monitoring, and evaluating options available to meet an individual’s health needs; promoting recovery at work or return to work (RTW) efforts, the identification of claims for coordination of early intervention services, and facilitating modified/alternate work opportunities to mitigate absences from work due to occupational and non-occupational injury/illness; works with other members of the Employee Health & Wellness team to ensure integration of services that promote the highest level of physical and mental health for employees.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience:

• Diploma or certificate in Disability Management or Human Resources.
• Three (3) years of recent, related experience in Disability Claims Management/Human Resources.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• An insurance background would be considered an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of current trends in occupational health & safety and related best practice.
• Demonstrated proficiency in managing occupational health and/or insurance disability claims.
• Ability to compile, analyze, and maintain statistical data.
• Knowledge of claims and case management, Human Resource practices, and relevant collective agreements.
• Exceptional decision-making and analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to respect the confidential nature of the services provided and information gathered.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
• Ability to type at 60 wpm.
• Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
