Salary range for the position is $106,026 to $152,413. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you make an impact?

The Manager, Medical Administration, Onboarding and Orientation (Manager) is responsible and accountable for the provision of Interior Health-wide medical administration support services and rural programs as well as oversight of a regional onboarding and orientation strategy for medical staff across Interior Health (IH).

The Manager provides leadership and direction to the Medical Administration, Onboarding and Orientation, and Rural Programs teams. The Manager provides input and advice to the Director, Medical Administration & Governance and medical leadership on issues related to Medical Administration processes, onboarding and orientation, rural programs. The Manager recommends and implements changes to address policy issues in order to ensure effectiveness, efficiencies, and risk mitigation strategies are maintained at all levels.

The Manager maintains strong relationships with a diverse group of key internal and external partners including IH medical and operational leaders, the Ministry of Health, Doctors of BC, Medical Staff Associations, Divisions of Family Practice, other Health Authorities, and the Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc) in order to achieve goals and objectives.

What will you work on?

• Provides leadership and direct supervision to assigned staff within the Medical Administration, Onboarding and Orientation and Rural Programs teams, using effective management techniques, e.g., coaching, mentoring skill and leadership development, and performance management.

• Responsible for staffing functions including recruitment, hiring, ongoing development, performance management, and disciplinary action and termination as required.

• Develops and manages an assigned budget, including annual planning of expenditures within assigned monies; tracking; and reporting to department, IH, and the Ministry of Health.

• Represents the department on various local and regional committees and working groups as a management and/or subject matter expert.


• Develops positive working relationships and partnerships with key internal and external partners to garner collaboration, and involvement, with initiatives related to medical administration, rural programs, and onboarding and orientation.

• Maintains current and expert knowledge of best practices in medical administration, rural programs and onboarding and orientation, as well as IH and provincial policies and initiatives related to the work.

• Reviews, develops, operationalizes, and assesses for change, the current processes, procedures, and policies to support sustainable integration of medical administration, rural programs and onboarding and orientation initiatives for medical leadership and staff, including evaluation and continuous improvement processes. Creates comprehensive recommendations and action plans for improvements.

• Collaborates with partners in medical affairs, medical staff contracts and recruitment, physician compensation, and IH Operations on all initiatives, systems and processes that intersect with the medical administration, rural programs, and onboarding and orientation team to ensure effective coordination, communication, and completion of work activities.

• Develops and delivers robust systems to monitor track and report out on medical administration and rural program activities, as well as the onboarding and orientation program.
• Collaborates with internal and external interested parties to implement communication strategies that enhance awareness and promote onboarding and orientation activities for medical staff.

• Oversees the development and implementation of the regional onboarding and orientation strategy for medical staff.

• Stewards the Rural Program Liaison activities and initiatives associated with the provincial rural programs, including liaising with the Ministry of Health, Locums for Rural BC, and the Rural Coordination Centre of BC.

• Travels to IH Sites to provide on-site guidance as required.

• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations, and implementing required corrective actions.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree with completed course work in Healthcare Administration.
• A minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive management experience working in a complex environment.
• Project management experience is an asset.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
