About the Job
The Registered Nurse:
• Provides nursing services related to communicable disease prevention and control (including HIV and blood borne pathogens), reproductive/sexual health, immunization, harm reduction, diagnosis and treatment of acute minor illnesses, including basic wound care and mental health/substance use support for high risk and vulnerable populations
• Strong focus on prevention, education and health promotion as well as assessment, chronic disease management, coordination, support, liaison and referral of health services
• Provides outreach services as well as clinic services in conjunction with other team members
• Coordinates services with those of other community-based services and agencies.
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.
Shifts of work will be days from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.

A first in Canada: minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPRs) are starting in B.C.! Interior Health, alongside B.C.'s other health authorities, is implementing mNPRs as a transformative staffing initiative that aims to improve the working environment of nurses in order to provide better quality care to our patients.
Qualifications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing (including community/public health content) with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Mandatory certification in Reproductive Health (STIs) with BCCNM
• Two years’ recent, related nursing experience including experience in STI/HIV care, immunization competency, wound care, reproductive health or mental health/substance use in a clinical (acute or community) setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Current valid BC Driver’s License
