About the Job
The Registered Nurse:
• Provides nursing care to Long-term Care patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
• Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.
Shifts of work will be days, evenings and nights, rotating from 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00 to 23:00, 23:00 to 07:00, 09:00 to 17:00 hours. There is a requirement to be available for nights on a periodic basis, including orientation.
About this Location
Cottonwoods Care Centre is a 213 bed, one-storey building centrally located on Ethel Street in beautiful Kelowna, BC. The original building was completed in 1976, and in 1984 an addition was completed bringing the facility to its current state occupying 156,080 square feet. The Aberdeen Unit has 60 Short Stay beds including 1 respite bed.

Qualifications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Post - basic education in gerontology an asset
