Respiratory Patient Educator

Position Summary

Kelowna General Hospital is recruiting a relief full-time Respiratory Therapist to take on the Respiratory Patient Educator role within our Community Asthma Care program.

This temporary opportunity continues until December 2026, or until the incumbent returns. The schedule is Monday to Thursday from 08:00–17:59.

About the position:
The Respiratory Therapist works within the hospital and community to deliver respiratory therapy services and programs related to Community Respiratory Therapy:
• The promotion of respiratory health
• The assessment, education, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with respiratory dysfunction
• Communicating and demonstrating community and hospital based respiratory care procedures to other health care professionals and students
• The use of respiratory equipment or special procedures

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program in Respiratory Therapy
• Successful completion of the Health Professionals Testing Canada (HPTC) Credentialing Exam.
• Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
• Two years’ recent experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma education, respiratory home care, home ventilation, home oxygen, and sleep disordered breathing screening, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current valid BC driver’s license.
