Elk Valley Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard Operator Clerk to join their team in Fernie, B.C.!
This position works rotating Days; 06:45 to 14:45, 09:00 to 17:00

What Will You Work On?
This position performs a variety of clerical duties associated with operating the switchboard, receiving and registering patients, processing accounts receivable such as:
• Processes calls (internal and external) and establishes communication links.
• Provides information to customers and assists in relaying messages to appropriate source.
• Answers emergency calls and follows established communications procedures in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest, bombs threats and disasters.
• Maintains Physician paging system and after hours physician’s emergency lines as per established protocol.
• Records and organizes data to facilitate the operations of the morgue. Informs appropriate personnel of any unusual circumstances/situations. Arranges transport with funeral homes as required.
• Receives "On-Call" information from physicians and updates data as required. Communicates changes to appropriate individuals needing current, accurate information.
• Receives patent porter requests and dispatches transfers to the patient porter team.
• Maintains confidentiality of classified information and keeps manager informed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, Training & Experience:
• Grade 12 plus
