Salary range for the position is $128,298 to $184,428. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact:

The Corporate Director, Business Operations is accountable for the financial operations support and direction of financial and strategic planning for the Operational and Corporate Leadership Teams within the Health Authority. The Corporate Director provides leadership within and around financial operations, financial planning and decision support in order to facilitate the achievement of the mission, goals, and objectives of Interior Health (IH) in accordance with the organization’s values. The Corporate Director provides input and makes recommendations to the CFO, Executive Director Finance, Senior Executives and senior leadership on financial issues as they relate to ongoing financial position of the portfolio and provides advice and coordination on financial implications for strategic priorities.

The Corporate Director, Business Operations develops strong liaisons with Executive Directors and SET members within the Health Authority and counterparts in other Health Authorities and Ministry of Health Executives. They develop strong external relationships at a senior level, including with the Ministry of Health, Federal Government Representatives, Audit bodies at a provincial and federal level, Municipalities and Regional Hospital Districts, Foundations and Auxiliary Organizations and seeks to influence external policy and decision-making to better serve clients of Interior Health.

What will you work on:

• Leads the operational and strategic decision-making on financial matters at the VP leadership table, including on the core clinical operations of the organization and the strategic primary and secondary care networks within the clinical services.

• Provides leadership to Directors, Managers, Consultants and Analysts within his/her team in the delivery of products and services for internal and external customers.

• Co-leads, with the VP Planning portfolio, the integration of financial and clinical information to support decision-making and shape clinical policy for the organization.

• Is responsible for leading the development of and monitoring the implementation of processes that set organizational priorities and allocate resources for the delivery of those processes.

• Plays a leadership role in conjunction with Operational VPs and Executive Directors in the development of proposals for new and expanded services, providing financial and business advice and co-presenting to Senior Executive Team and Board Level Executives.

• Is accountable for setting direction for allocation of resources, providing budget and strategic recommendations and ensuring appropriate budget allocation.

• Develops and maintains policies, principles, and processes to assist in the management of resource allocation, service provider contracts, and decision support.

• Is accountable for ensuring strong integration of information and issue management between both the planning aspects of financial services and reporting. This includes accountability for managing an effective forecasting mechanism to assist senior executives’ ability to adjust resources and commit resources toward organizational priorities.

• Provides direction and leadership to the Business Operations team and broader Financial Services team.

• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience:
• A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
• A Master’s degree in a health, business or related discipline.
• Ten to fifteen years of recent, relevant experience.
