Community Mental Health Worker | Pre-Employment Support

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a permanent full time Community Mental Health Worker 1 to join our Mental Health (MH) team in Vernon, B.C.

Who are we looking for?

A successful candidate will have experience in diverse mental health issues and be able to support the recovery process for those experiencing ongoing Mental Health concerns at a moderate to sever level, affecting ability to function.

They will be a team player and support the wraparound team approach to care. Some computer skills like Teams and Outlook Calendar and email are required. Drivers licence class V required, as part of the work, they will be driving clients to appointments connected to the mental well being.

Working with case managers nurses, psychiatrists, and community partners is required and experience in psychosocial rehab is helpful. Assistance with budgeting, and lifeskills a plus and understanding the need for healthy activities and structure is an asset.

What will you work on?

The Community Mental Health Worker 1 functions as part of an integrated multidisciplinary Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Team and performs a variety of life skills and general support duties involving clients who are living in their own housing. Reporting to the HCIS Manager or designate, and in accordance with established treatment plans, this position provides services within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework for the assigned client population(s) with severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders. Provides support to clients in the development and maintenance of the skills required to live successfully in their own homes. The Community Mental Health Worker 1 is expected to engage clients in various community settings as people with full potential and as meaningful collaborators in their own service planning, delivery and evaluation.

Scheduling Information:

Shift types are days and evenings and shift times are from 08:30 to 17:22, 12:30 to 21:22 hours.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

• Grade 12
• Certificate in a field relevant to the position (such as, Community Mental Health Certificate, Human Service Worker Certificate, Social Services Worker Certificate, etc.)
• One year recent related experience working with the assigned client population(s) experiencing mental health and/or substance use problems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Food Safe certificate required.
• Current valid B.C. Driver’s License.
