About the Job:
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH):
• Provides comprehensive and coordinated nursing services related to sexual and reproductive health including but not limited to; sexually transmitted and blood borne infection (STBBI) screening, testing, treatment and contact tracing, contraceptive management, pelvic exams, cervical cancer screening, and HIV pre and post exposure prophylaxis, immunizations and gender affirming care.
• Applies a health equity, social justice, and social determinates of health lens to all key responsibilities
• Ensures clients are supported in navigating the health care system
• Provides trauma informed, person centered, gender inclusive, holistic and culturally safe care, honouring Indigenous knowledge, wisdom and diversity
• Provides care within a person and family centered care model.
The role includes a strong focus on prevention, education, health promotion, assessment, treatment, contact tracing, coordination, support, liaison, and client referral to other health services.
The nurse works in partnership with other health care providers and community-based services and agencies, both internal and external to IH, providing clinic-based services as well as outreach-based services. These services may be outside of the nurse’s home community.
This is a CASUAL OPPORTUNITY. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual employment and lead to regular employment.
Shifts of work are days and evenings, with shift times of 09:00 to 21:00, 13:00 to 21:00 hours.
About this location/unit:
The position will have an outreach aspect and the current sites for clinic delivery will be Kelowna UPCC and Outreach Urban Health.

*Please note that travel is a requirement for this position and transportation arrangements must meet the Employer’s requirements. You are required to hold a valid BC Driver’s License and may be required to drive a personal car on mileage and /or be assigned a fleet vehicle as a condition of employment.

Qualifications
• Graduation from an approved school of nursing. Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Mandatory certified practice registration in Reproductive Health (Sexually Transmitted Infections) with BCCNM, and two (2) years recent experience in STBBI care; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Current valid Class 5 Driver’s License
