About the Job:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
• Performs assessments and plans, implements and provides personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; the scope or extent of the skills that the LPN performs varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population
• Administers oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures
• Operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols
This is a RELIEF PART-TIME (0.65 FTE) OPPORTUNITY until June 6, 2025, or the return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights; rotating from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 hours.
About this location/unit:
Poplar Ridge Pavillion is a residential facility attached to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail. Poplar Ridge provides personal and nursing care 24 hours/day, 7 days/week to adults with complex health care needs requiring 24 hour professional care due to physical disability or mental or behavioral conditions, including brain injuries or dementia. Poplar Ridge is a 49 bed unit that was opened in 1970 on the second floor. There are 4 wards, 5 private rooms (one of these is a convalescent room), and 14 semi-private rooms. The meals are prepared by the acute hospital and brought to the floor in heated carts to be served by kitchen staff. There is approximately one care aide for 7.5 residents on day shift and one LPN and two care aides on nights. Poplar Ridge is considered one large unit with the nurse’s station in the center of the facility and one dining room for all the residents.

Qualifications
• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Current CPR certification required
