Position Summary
Permanent full-time Medical Lab Assistant opportunity is available now at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook. Days of work are rotating and shifts include day and evening shifts.

What will you work on:
MLAs perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Labs, operating related equipment, entering data into the LIS and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.

About this location:
EKH is a 75 bed acute care hospital with a medium size Laboratory offering Core Lab, Microbiology, Histo, Pathology, collections and accession services. It is considered a regional referral site for selected testing and there are 30 Medical Technologists and 25 Med Lab Assistants employed in various disciplines.
Cranbrook is situated in the southeastern corner of British Columbia. Cranbrook is the business capital and largest city in the Rocky Mountain Region and is an easy drive to Alberta and the US. Nestled on a gentle plain with scenic mountain vistas in the distance, residents can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities and urban pursuits.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
• Grade 12
• Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
• One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Valid BC Driver’s License
• Ability to type 25 WPM *please submit a 5 Minute Typing Test (min 25 WPM within the past 48 months) from an approved institution. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
