Logan Lake Health Centre, located in Logan Lake, BC has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Patient Registration Clerk to join their team in!
This position works rotating Monday to Friday/days: 08:00 to 12:30
Days off: Sun, Sat, STAT
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week.

What Will You Work On?
In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, performs a variety of clerical duties such as admission/discharge functions of outpatients, booking outpatient appointments, receiving visitors, telephone answering, typing, photocopying, cashier functions and maintaining supplies.
• Performs duties such as answering the telephone, directing calls, and responding to inquiries of a general nature. Receives, opens, and re-directs incoming mail in accordance with established procedures.
• Completes Patient Registration documentation for the admission of patients by interviewing patients, relatives or friends to obtain personal information and proof of eligibility. Explains admission form, eligibility policies, and obtains signatures on forms as required. Distributes admission information to appropriate Departments.
• Books outpatient appointments for departments such as the dietician, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, visiting specialists. Processes laboratory requisitions for specimens sent by the physician’s office. Prepares by pre-registering patients for clinical outpatient services.
• Pulls and assembles charts, files loose forms and reports for outpatients. Locates missing charts.
• Provides information by telephone or correspondence to sources such as WCB, ICBC, and physicians. Types correspondence, photocopies reports, sorts and files materials as necessary.
• Receives payments for a variety of patient bills and sundry accounts; records payments in cash journals and/or summary sheets and issues change and receipts.
• Balances cash daily against receipts and prepares bank deposits and cash reports; balances cash journals and/or summary sheets. Prepares computerized deposit listings.
• Prepares journal entry for cash receipts total, balances the total of bank deposits and enters into the General Ledger system.
• Posts billing information such as charges for patient and medical agency accounts by transferring information into appropriate computerized records.
• Assists patient in completing forms for extended benefit plans and provides information on outpatient charges when requested.
• Updates spreadsheets and completes and forwards forms in accordance with established procedures. Assists with the input of approved general journal entries as directed.
• Prepares cheque requisitions for reimbursement to physicians for payments received on their behalf in accordance with established procedures.
• Orders, receives and stores stationery and supplies according to established procedures through the Materials Management department. Reports inoperable, unsafe or damaged equipment in accordance with established procedures. Forwards documents such as invoices, receiving reports, packing slips and purchase orders to Kelowna Accounts Payable.
• Operates electronic equipment such as photocopier, faxes. Maintains equipment such as toner replacement and minor problems as described in the owner’s manual. Logs equipment problems and communicates problems to the respective vendor or the information technology department by calling the appropriate number.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Completion of a Typing Test 50 wpm or greater, dated within the past 48 months and must be issued from a valid institution only. (ON-LINE TESTS NOT ACCEPTED)
