Medical Laboratory Technologist

Position Summary

A permanent part-time 0.8fte Medical Lab Technologist position now available at the Arrow Lakes Hospital in Nakusp, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of B.C.

About the job:

We offer a generalist MLT position with interesting and varied work within all areas of Core with some phlebotomy. This site does not have acute care beds, but offers laboratory and radiology; urgent care; outpatient ambulatory care; community services; long term residential care services; and doctors’ offices.

Typical duties include: routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, greeting patients, collecting and/or receiving specimens, entering data into the LIS, validating/reporting test results, maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and control agents. MLT’s work scheduled day shifts at this site with participation in the on-call scheduled required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
• Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
• One (1) year recent related experience
