About the Job:
The Registered Nurse:
• Provides nursing care to Long-term Care patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
• Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned
This is a CASUAL OPPORTUNITY. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual employment and lead to regular employment.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days, evenings, and nights; rotating from 06:45 to 15:00, 14:45 to 23:00, 22:45 to 07:00 hours.

About this location/unit:
Introducing Nelson Fairview Gardens, a brand-new facility operated by Interior Health as part of the new Nelson Community Health Campus. This state-of-the-art building will accommodate 75 adults in need of long-term care. The facility features five distinct neighborhoods across three floors, offering both covered and open outdoor spaces with breathtaking mountain and lake views.
Located in Nelson, a charming city with over 10,000 residents, forming one of the three principal urban centers in the Kootenay Boundary region. Conveniently located midway between Vancouver and Calgary, Nelson is just a 30-minute drive from Castlegar and an hour from Trail, both of which offer commercial airports. Qualifications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Post - basic education in gerontology an asset
