Position Summary

Kelowna Community Health and Services Centre located in Kelowna B.C is looking for a Term Specific full-time Regional Knowledge Coordinator, to join their team. Service Area is Specialty Education - Indigenous/Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Curriculum. Travel will be required throughout the Interior Health Authority region.

Shift Times: Days/Monday to Friday: 08:00 to 16:00

Position end date: March 31st, 2025

What will you work on?
The Knowledge Coordinator utilizes adult teaching /learning and change management principles and acts as a resource to front line staff and others by providing guidance and support in relation to education/knowledge transfer methods, technologies, best practices and initiatives within the assigned HCIS Operations area.
Promotes the attainment of established education, knowledge transfer and evaluation goals for the assigned area by performing duties such as:
• identifying effective delivery methods, technology and venues (such as e-learning);
• conducting and evaluating orientation, education and knowledge transfer programs;
• responding to formal requests from front line staff, Team Leaders and Operation Managers for instruction and/or demonstration;
• providing input to the advancement of education and knowledge transfer goals;
• providing information based on theories, concepts and principles underlying education and knowledge transfer goals/initiatives;
• increasing awareness of education and knowledge transfer goals/initiatives through the distribution and/or display of information and/or brochures;
• facilitating and assisting front line staff, Team Leaders and Operation Managers access to educational opportunities; and
• communicating issues, gaps or system limitations back to Manager and ‘programs’ staff and that have been revealed as a result of education delivery.
• Supports the delivery of education and knowledge transfer initiatives within the assigned area by:
• providing guidance, support and feedback in the application of education/knowledge transfer resources;
• identifying the need for education and/or development in collaboration with the Manager, Program Directors and Community Area Directors;
• employing change management principles in the teaching and facilitating of education and knowledge transfer initiatives;
• providing consultation to front line staff, Team Leaders and Operation Managers in the use of materials, methods and technologies relating to education and knowledge transfer initiatives;
• identifying staff learning plan to meet practice standards, reviewing plan and make adjustments to meet established learning objectives;
• reviewing and providing feedback to ‘programming’ staff on orientation and reference manuals relating to education and knowledge transfer initiatives; and
• participating in the ongoing review and revision of policies, standards, procedures, and related materials relating to education and knowledge transfer initiatives as led by Program Directors and Practice Leads; communicates needed changes to the Manager, Program Directors and Practice Leads.
• Provides expertise in evidence-based knowledge services to front line staff, Team Leaders and Operation Managers by collaborating with members of the front line interdisciplinary team, and evaluating clinical practice to ensure compliance with established policies, standards and procedures. Provides feedback to Manager and Program Directors (or delegates).
• Collaborates with the Manager and Community Area Directors to ensure that systems of continuous learning are in place to provide staff with the opportunity to remain current with best practices in accordance with applicable standards and service requirements
• Orients new staff to their role by familiarizing the staff with the established policies, standards, procedures, and education/knowledge transfer resources. Utilizes educational resources such as self-assessment and teaching modules in order to ensure staff (and others) are able to demonstrate the integration of knowledge, skill and ability.
• Responds to education and knowledge transfer issues in a supportive and goal oriented manner, facilitating communication to affect positive outcomes. Empowers staff (and others) to assume responsibility for educational and knowledge transfer activities through coaching, facilitation and support.
• Maintains relevant documentation: prepares, completes and presents reports as required and directed.
• Facilitates the utilization of resources in alignment with the established and approved budget.
• Assists with the implementation of new policies/practice standards and education/knowledge transfer initiatives and materials developed through ‘Programming’ (Program Directors and Practice Leads).
• Participates in Quality Improvement processes, meetings and committee work as directed to meet organizational goals and strategic directives.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Three (3) years’ recent, related experience in the assigned practice area(s) and two(2) years’ formal experience in adult teaching/learning, curriculum development, teaching, providing in services or staff development function; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid BC driver’s license.
