Are you passionate about enhancing the lives of others through engaging recreational activities? We are presently seeking a new team member to join our Recreation Therapy Department at Ponderosa in Kamloops, BC.
About the Role
As a Recreation Therapy Worker, you will be an integral member of our interdisciplinary team, responsible for implementing our established Recreation Therapy Program. You will carry out individual or group leisure/recreation therapy programs such as arts, socio-cultural events, crafts, sports, music, cooking, gardening, and exercises. Additionally, you will set up and organize furnishings and equipment for programs and special events, porter residents to programs, teach techniques of related activities, and oversee resident participation.
In this role, you will also conduct resident programs outside of the facility, ensuring residents have appropriate clothing and necessary funds for outings. You will collaborate with nursing staff, supervisors, and therapists to confirm program details and report any issues or changes. Your dedication to providing engaging and therapeutic activities will contribute significantly to the well-being and enjoyment of our residents.
Position Details
This relief part-time (0.63 FTE) position offers rotating day shifts, providing flexibility and work-life balance. Qualifications
• Grade 12
• Completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
