Position Summary

Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant Interior Health is hiring a permanent full time Nurse Practitioner in Kamloops, BC. In this role, you will provide comprehensive primary care in an established and welcoming environment to clients in the Kamloops Urban Outreach –Complex Care Clinic while working within an interdisciplinary primary care team of MHSU primary care providers (MD/NP), RNs, RPNs, Social Workers and Psychiatry services. You will also provide outreach primary care to various sites including complex care supportive living facilities. This low barrier clinic offers same day, walk-in, scheduled, and outreach appointments. The goal of this service is to increase the availability and continuity of primary care services while providing holistic patient centred, trauma-informed health care, that is delivered in a culturally safe manner to a vulnerable and at risk population inclusive of: complex care individuals, migrant workers, woman’s health, gender affirming care, mental health and substance use, chronic conditions, STI care, and economic barriers. Qualifications

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
• Diagnoses and treats underlying acute and chronic conditions and disorders within the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice.
• Monitors ongoing medical care, orders appropriate screening diagnostic investigations, interprets reports of investigations, and analyzes information to monitor progress and plan treatment.
• Provides follow-up care; communicates with patients and families about health findings, diagnoses, priorities, outcomes, and prognoses; supports and counsels patients/clients/residents in their responses to diseases, disorders, and conditions.
• Collaborates and consults with allied healthcare professionals as appropriate to optimize plans for discharge. Participates in family meeting and planning for home.
• Prescribes drugs within the statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions for Nurse Practitioners and within applicable employer policies and procedures.
• Participates in research contributing to improved patient/client/resident care and advances in nursing, health policy development, and population health.
• Participates in interdisciplinary staff and nursing education through case presentations; mentoring; role modeling; and facilitating the exchange of knowledge in the classroom, the clinical setting, and the community. Fosters healthcare partnerships.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures related to nursing, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education, Training, and Experience:
• Current registration and exam-qualified as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Successful completion of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
• Recent, relevant clinical experience in primary care, mental health and substance use.
• BCCSU OAT certification
