About Us:
We are seeking an experienced Power Engineer IV / Maintenance Worker V to join our Plant & Maintenance Services team at Shuswap Lake General Hospital in the picturesque town of Salmon Arm, BC. Our facility is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare, and we need skilled professionals to ensure our infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

Your Role:
In this vital role, you will operate and maintain a power plant or any low-pressure steam plant by managing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power, and other related equipment, all in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Your duties will include performing trades tasks approaching the journeyman level in various areas such as electrical, plumbing, and painting. You will supervise Maintenance Workers and other designated staff.

Key responsibilities include:
• Operating steam, hot water heating boilers, expansible fluid, and air conditioning systems, including starting up and shutting down boilers and related pumps, fans, air compressors, and pneumatic systems.
• Monitoring and adjusting temperature control systems, pressure, and feed water levels, and ensuring the proper distribution of steam/air heating.
• Operating and adjusting physical plant and HVAC systems using mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems.
• Repairing and calibrating instrumentation components of steam and HVAC systems.
• Maintaining required documentation for all systems and processes.

Work Schedule:
This is a casual position with potential shifts from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Grade 10, plus four years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Certificate of competency as 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
• Valid BC Driver’s License.
