Position Summary

Permanent full-time Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) position available in Lillooet, B.C. This is a Monday-to-Friday day shift position. Shift times are 07:00-15:00, 07:30-15:30, 08:00-16:00 and 09:00-17:00.

What you will work on:

MLAs perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Labs, operating related equipment, entering data into the LIS and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.

About this location:

This site offers a 24/7, 5 bed emergency department, 6 inpatient beds in addition to medical, palliative, maternity and part-time operating room. The hospital is co-located with the Mountain View Lodge long-term care facility. The site offers multi-disciplinary allied health and community health services.

Steeped in history, culture and tradition, the rural mountain town of Lillooet is located on the unceded territory of the St’at’imc Nation. Known for its semi-desert climate, this area enjoys dry summers and milder winters, with no shortage of exhilarating or relaxing outdoor activities available.

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
• One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Valid BC Driver’s License required
• Ability to type 25 WPM **please submit a 5 Minute Typing Test (min 25 WPM within the past 48 months) from an approved institution. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
