What will you work on?

This casual social work position will work for a variety of Mental Health Programs (including Hillside, Adult Inpatient Psych, Safe Consumption Site, ACT).

The Social Worker provides comprehensive assessment, care planning and treatment coordination for designated clients and their families. Working collaboratively with other health care providers and the multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides direct psychosocial care, counseling and group work, system navigation and advocacy, education and linkage to relevant specialized complex care resources while facilitating client self-management. The Social Worker is responsible for providing and developing social work services to maintain or improve the health and social well-being and functioning of the identified population.

Scheduling Information:

Shift times are 08:30 to 16:30 hours. This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week. Many careers with us begin with casual employment and lead to permanent or temporary career opportunities.

About Hillside Centre


Hillside Center is an acute Tertiary Mental Health facility located in Kamloops that provides care for persons aged 19 years and older. We provide highly specialized mental health services for individuals with complex and severe mental illnesses including neurocognitive disorders. We have a total of 47 beds comprised of 12 geriatric beds, 10 provincial neuropsychiatric beds and 25 adult beds. We are a regional tertiary center catering for patients referred from all over the Interior Health region and Northern Health. We also support the provincial UBC Neuropsychiatry program. Our goal is to provide a thorough assessment of our patients, help stabilize their symptoms and return them to their home communities. Our experienced team of physicians, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, recreational therapists and support workers treat our patients through a trauma- informed lens to provide the best possible outcome for them.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university.

Two years recent related experience in a healthcare setting working with medically complex clients with concurrent disorders, or a combination of education, training and experience.

Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.

Current valid BC driver’s license.
