Position Summary

We are seeking a Casual Renal Technician at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail, BC.

Days of work: Rotating, Days, Evenings

Shift times: 06:00 to 14:20, 12:45 to 23:00, 06:30 to 18:30

What will you work on?

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, positions at this level set-up,
operate, monitor, test, dismantle, and clean dialysis related equipment for patient treatments following
established procedures. As necessary, provides general patient care activities under nursing supervision
according to unit demands.

Typical duties include:

• Prepares appropriate dialysis equipment and supplies for patient treatment by performing duties such as attaching tubing, calibrating and checking alarms, setting monitors and dialysate flow rates. Transports dialysis equipment to appropriate areas of the facilities for patient treatment and set up if required.
• Disassembles, cleans, and reassembles dialysis equipment.
• Assists with mobilization and preparation of patients for dialysis such as; transporting/ escorting patients, assisting with weigh-in at scales, moving equipment/support aides; transfers patients to/from waiting rooms and/or HandyDART pick up areas, taking blood pressures and pulse and reporting to attending nurse, including documentation of same.
• Monitors and adjusts equipment during dialysis under the direction of nursing and/or medical staff; reports alarms during patient treatment to the nursing staff.

Grade 12 plus two years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
