Position Summary

Salary Range:
Salary range for the position is $141,494 - $155,643. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.

Interior Health is looking for a permanent full time or part time Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Foundry in Cranbrook, BC.

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive primary care in a welcoming environment working with youth age 12-24. Five core service streams are provided at all foundry sites: Primary Care, Mental Health, Substance Use Interventions, Social Services and Peer and Family Navigation. Working alongside allied health care professionals, the NP will provide timely access to primary care in a collaborative, team based approach. The Nurse Practitioner provides assessment and interventions in collaboration with youth, family and other health care professions and in accordance with regulatory standards, limits, conditions, and employer policies and procedures. The Nurse Practitioner participates in peer and self review to evaluate the outcome of services at the patient and community level.

Qualifications

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
• Diagnoses and treats patients/clients/residents for undifferentiated diseases, disorders, and conditions within the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice.
• Monitors ongoing care, orders appropriate screening diagnostic investigations; interprets reports of investigations and analyzes information to monitor progress and plan treatment.
• Establishes priorities for management of health, diseases, disorders, and conditions; provides follow-up treatment; communicates with patients/clients/residents and families about health findings, diagnoses and priorities, outcomes and prognoses; supports and counsels patients/clients/residents in their responses to diseases, disorders and conditions.
• Collaborates and consults with physicians or other health care and social service providers as appropriate to assess and diagnose patient/client/resident status. Develops and implements treatment plans.
• Prescribes drugs within the statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions for Nurse Practitioners and within applicable employer policies and procedures.
• Participates in research contributing to improved patient/client/resident care and advances in nursing, health policy development and population health.
• Maintains population health focus by implementing screening and health promotion activities for populations at risk.
• Participates in interdisciplinary staff and nursing education through case presentations, mentoring, role modeling and facilitating the exchange of knowledge, the clinical setting and the community; fosters health care partnerships.
• Develops implements, and evaluates policies and procedures related to nursing, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education, Training, and Experience:
• Current registration and exam-qualified as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Successful completion of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
• Knowledge of First Nations culture and experience working with Aboriginal People is preferred - Cultural Competency training would be an asset
• Recent, relevant clinical nursing experience
