Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to join our Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) team at HILLSIDE TERTIARY CARE in beautiful KAMLOOPS, B.C.

Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage will be $41.42 to $55.91.

About the Job:

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse provides:
• Nursing care to psychiatric patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
• Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

RPNs/RNs in Tertiary Care work in conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, SWs, OTs, psychology, as well as community mental health.

We are looking for a self-directed, motivated, reliable and flexible mental health-trained nurse (RN/RPN) who enjoys working in a team environment and has a strong desire to learn. If you are experienced in Mental Health or Substance Use, we want to hear from you!

This is a Full Time Relief opportunity until September 7, 2025, or the return of the incumbent. Shifts of work are days and nights 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00.

About this location/unit:

Hillside Centre is a 44 bed facility located on the Royal Inland Hospital campus in Kamloops, B.C. It provides services to both adults and elderly individuals with acute illness and/or severely dysfunctional behaviours who cannot be cared for in the psychiatric system in their own area. The focus is on diagnosis and stabilization with rehabilitation strategies to promote stabilization and reintegration into the community to return home

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved school of nursing
Two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
