About the Job
The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Public Health Services team:
• Provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health/Health Promotion model
• Translate knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health enhancing behaviours to diverse individuals, families, and population groups through universal and targeted interventions, programs and advocacy
• Offers services in communities, schools, homes and outreach locations to individuals, families and communities
Inherent in the role are knowledge, skills and abilities specific to health promotion, epidemiology, community development, primary health care, social determinants of health and illness, and disease and injury prevention.
This is a Relief Part Time (0.50 FTE) opportunity until March 12, 2025, or the return of the incumbent.
Days of work are rotating Tuesdays to Thursdays during the hours of 08:18- 16:30.

Three kilometres north of 100 Mile House you will reach the turnoff that heads east to Canim Lake. During summer this beautiful area is fantastic for hiking, canoeing, boating and fishing. Winter brings backcountry skiing, as well as snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dogsledding and sleigh rides.
100 Mile House is situated in the scenic Cariboo region of British Columbia, brimming with serene beauty and a rich history. Outdoor enthusiasts can revel in a plethora of activities, from fishing and boating on nearby pristine lakes, such as Canim Lake or Horse Lake, to exploring lush forests teeming with wildlife. The self-proclaimed International Nordic Ski Capital boasts the world’s tallest pair of cross-country skis at the Visitor Centre and has one of the province’s most active Nordic clubs.
History buffs will delight in uncovering the town's past at the nearby 108 Mile House Historic Site, a highlight of the region, renowned for its lakeside heritage structures, notably the largest remaining log barn of its type in Canada. Visitors can explore a museum showcasing local history, admire stone sculptures, and wander through restored log buildings displaying period tools and implements. The site is a testament to the community’s role as a vital stopover during the Cariboo Gold Rush.

Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from a recognized program and six (6) months recent, related experience in public health nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training experience.
Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Current valid BC Driver’s License.

Comments
Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage will be $41.42 - $55.91 per hour.
