About the Job:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
• Performs assessments and plans, implements and provides personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; the scope or extent of the skills that the LPN performs varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population
• Administers oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures
• Operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols
This is a CASUAL OPPORTUNITY. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. Shifts of work can be days or nights; 07:15 to 19:15, 19:15 to 07:15 hours.
Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage for this position will be $32.84 to $41.35
About this location/unit:
SOGH is an active, rural hospital serving communities of Oliver, Osoyoos, and surrounding areas that sees an average of 16,000 emergency visits per year. There are 7 Emergency beds it is staffed 24 hours a day with 2 RN’s on day shift as well as a 10 hour triage nurse, night shift is 2 RN’s. The acute care ward is 18 beds and is staffed with 2RN’s and 2LPN’s on days and 2RN’s and 1 LPN on nights, the occupancy at SOG is regularly 100%.
This site was selected to be a pilot site for the implementation of the electronic Meditech Charting System, Advanced Clinicals. We now have been a paperless ward for a few years, and one of the few who have been able to achieve it in Canada and North America. Nursing and multidisciplinary notes, medication administration, and physicians’ orders are done electronically. Today, we are seen as a leader in this technology.

Qualifications
• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses
• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Current CPR certification required *Please upload a copy of your valid CPR certificate with your application*
Acute care experience is considered an asset. Along with a copy of your CV (resume) please provide details regarding your previous acute care experience.
