Join Our Team as a Relief Full-Time Recreation Therapist in Kamloops!

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of youth facing substance use concerns, mental health challenges, and functional difficulties? We're looking for dedicated Recreation Therapists to join our compassionate team at South Hills Tertiary Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre in Kamloops, BC.

**This position supports the Youth Intensive Case Management Program. The YICM program is for youth aged 12- 24 who are experiencing significant substance use concerns. They may also be experiencing mental health concerns and functional challenges. These youth have been unable to engage in mainstream services and require intensive outreach and support.**

About South Hills Tertiary Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre:
Our center comprises two 20-bed units designed to provide specialized treatment for adults with serious and persistent mental illness. Through rehabilitation and recovery-focused programs, we aim to prepare individuals for successful community reintegration. Admission is by physician referral only, and our goal is to enhance individuals' quality of life by empowering them to take control of their lives and function independently within society. Our programs focus on strengthening individuals' skills and fostering the necessary environmental supports for sustained community living.

Your Role as a Recreation Therapist:
As a Recreation Therapist at South Hills, you'll be responsible for providing tailored recreation and leisure programs to clients, both individually and in groups. Your duties will include assessing clients' recreation and leisure needs, developing therapeutic recreation plans, and evaluating outcomes and objectives to enhance clients' health, functional status, personal development, and overall quality of life. Additionally, you'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Occupational/Rehabilitation staff and other healthcare professionals, to resolve client program issues and contribute to the organization and delivery of Recreation Therapy services.

Schedule and Benefits:
This position offers a Wednesday to Saturday schedule, with shifts from 08:00 to 18:00. As a full-time employee, you'll qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, providing you with peace of mind and security.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized diploma or degree program in Recreational Therapy plus two years recent related experience.
• Eligible for professional membership with the B.C. Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA).
• Current valid BC driver’s license
