Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to join our Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) team as an Episodic Overdose Prevention and Nurse Prescriber in beautiful Lillooet, B.C.

Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage will be $41.42 - $55.91 per hour.

About the Job:
The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse:
• Functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) or Tertiary Mental Health Services multi-disciplinary care team
• Ensures that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems, and/or problematic substance use and/or development disability issues who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services
• Provides assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life
• Functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families

This position is a split between the Episodic Overdose Prevention and Nurse Prescriber roles.
We are seeking applicants with an understanding of supervised consumption services, knowledge of harm reduction principals and ability to work with clients with complex mental health and substance use disorders. Previous experience with the marginalized, homeless population would be helpful.

This position supports with the initial intake and assessment for clients interested in the Opiate Agonist program. Working in a system of care, the RN/RPN will work with physicians and community services to ensure therapy initiation, support and streamlined transition and continuity of care.

You will also work as an integral part of an integrated mental health and substance use service. The Nurse provides services such as Opiate Agonist Therapies, support and recovery, substance use crisis support, episodic overdose prevention services and support to individuals experiencing acute and/or chronic problem substance use.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity.

Shifts of work are Monday to Friday days from 08:30 to 16:30.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
• Two (2) years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
