Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage for this position will be $41.42 to $55.91.

About the Job:
The Registered Nurse:
• Provides nursing care to patients in a variety of clinical settings, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
• Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

This is a CASUAL OPPORTUNITY. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. Shifts of work will be scheduled DAYS; rotating from 08:00 TO 20:00 hours.

About this location/unit:
SCH: The Slocan Community Health Centre serves the villages of New Denver, Silverton, Slocan, and Rosebery. It is a small rural Health Centre with residential unit that has 30 beds and 24-hour emergency department. It is located on the eastern shore of Slocan Lake with the peaks of the Valhalla Mountains rising more than 2,100 metres on the opposite shore. All manner of water sports include kayaking, canoeing, sailing, fishing, water skiing. In the winter, down hill, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are the outdoor sports of choice. New Denver has a strong sense of community where artisans, environmentalists, tourism operators and many other entrepreneurs and businesses work together. The local high school supports grades k-12 The sheer physical beauty still stuns local citizens when they take a closer look at the Shangri-La. Come and they will be happy to share it with you.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area as required by the position:
o Emergency – Advanced preparation in an ED clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
o Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years
