Love your career AND where you live. At Interior Health, we’re proud to be a Canada’s Top 100 Employer, offering great benefits, career growth, and a life surrounded by some of the most beautiful regions of Canada. From hiking to skiing to lakeside living, your work-life balance has never looked this good. Join our Nurse Practitioner team!
Caring is at the heart of who we are. As one of five regional publicly funded health authorities in the province, we strive to live out our vision: Health and well-being for all, as we deliver hospital, community and long-term care services to the over 870,000 people across British Columbia’s southern Interior region. We want you to enjoy the work you do, the place where you work, and get to know the people around you.
We have exciting opportunities to work as a NP in a Locum position in IH primary care clinics offering both in person and virtual primary care. As a Casual NP, you will provide seamless continuity of care for existing and new clients, ensuring continuing access to primary care. This access reduces non-emergency visits to the emergency department.
Casual locum NPs support the following IH strategic priorities:
• Improve care and health status for key patient populations
• Reduce Department visits and hospitalization
• Provide patient-centered care
• Improve rural health services
• Help sustain NPs in permanent practices by positively addressing retention and wellness
We are inviting fully licensed (BCCNM) Practicing Nurse Practitioners with Primary Care experience to apply and be part of a Casual Pool of Nurse Practitioners, whose purpose is to provide short-term, temporary coverage when needed to support an Interior Health’s regularly employed Nurse Practitioner during vacation or leave of absences.
As a Casual NP your position will be centrally based in the Professional Practice Office and reports to the NP Director. The Casual NP will be deployed to practices that match competencies and experience with a focus on rural and isolated/smaller sites/facilities where clients have limited service when the incumbent NP is away from their practice.
Services provided by the Casual NP will be specific to the focused population of each NP practice. Each NP practice throughout Interior Health is unique. Many of the Regular NP positions with Interior Health focus on vulnerable populations with the greatest needs, Mental Health and Substance Use patients, frail elderly, and people with chronic disease. The Casual NP will provide needed casual coverage that will contribute to continuity of care and improved health outcomes for the identified vulnerable populations.
This opportunity offers practice in a variety of settings and will appeal to a NP who is seeking new practice challenges. The practice locations will be as varied as the NP Primary Health Care NP Clinics across Interior Health.
Shifts offered to a Casual NP will typically be Monday to Friday as required, although some clinics may offer Saturday shifts. The Casual NP is not expected to be on-call.
Salary Range: Salary range for the position is $74.74/hour - $82.21/hour, plus 13% in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.
