Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage for this position will be $41.42 to $55.91.


About the Job:
The Registered Nurse:
• Provides nursing care to day surgery patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
• Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

This is a CASUAL OPPORTUNITY. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. Shifts of work will be scheduled DAYS, Monday to Friday, with shift times of 06:45 to 14:45, 17:15 to 19:00 hours.

About this location/unit:
Nelson: Kootenay Lake Hospital’s Operating Room Department has two OR theatres functional Monday to Friday. Types of procedures include: Endoscopy, Major Obs/Gyne, Dental, Ophthalmology/Cataracts, minor Ortho, and minor General Surgery. Up to nine Operating Room RNs circulate/scrub, including a float nurse plus a RN is Daycare Surgery and PAR. The hospital has a strong Obs/Gyne program supported by 24/7 on-call operating room capacity.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Current CPR certification required
• Three years recent related experience in an acute surgical setting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
