Position Summary

Royal Inland Hospital (RIH), located in Kamloops, B.C., has an immediate relief, part-time (0.92 FTE) Staff Anesthesia Assistant opening. This position is to provide coverage until February 2025, or return of incumbent.

Effective April 2024 hourly rates of pay $42.27 to $52.81. Recognition of previous experience in determining starting salary.

RIH is a 273-inpatient bed, tertiary referral hospital offering high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24 emergency and trauma services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and diagnostic services. The RIH Department of Anesthesiology provides Anesthesia Care for General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, ENT, Plastic Surgery, Urology, as well as managing multiple trauma cases for pediatric and adult patients. The group is home to six highly qualified Staff Anesthesia Assistants.

Staff Anesthesia Assistants play a crucial part in performing technical duties related to anesthesia such as testing, preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies. Operating within a client-centered approach and as an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, you make a substantial contribution to assisting Anesthesiologists with the induction, maintenance and recovery phases of anesthesia. Days of work are Monday to Friday; 06:00 to 14:00, 07:00 to 15:00, 09:30 to 17:30. On-call is associated with this position.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy plus three years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Completion of an accredited post-graduate Anesthesia Assistant diploma program.
• Current certification with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
• Eligible for registration with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and CSRT.
• Current certificates in CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
