Position Summary
We are seeking reliable and motivated Rehabilitation Assistants to join our cohesive Speech-Language Pathology team at Kelowna General Hospital.
Under the supervision of Speech-Language Pathologists, the Rehabilitation Assistant implements rehabilitation treatment plans to support patients with communication and swallowing impairments. The Rehabilitation Assistant will administer communication and swallowing screens to assist the Speech-Language Pathologist in prescribing the appropriate assessment and treatment plan. In addition organizes equipment and supplies for activities and maintain established inventory of supplies.
What makes working with this team and in this role so great is the wide range of opportunity to learn a variety of skills in both acute, rehab and outpatient settings; learn more about and support instrumental assessments of swallowing (Modified Barium Swallow Studies, Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing), and participation in group therapy settings.
As a Rehabilitation Assistant supporting Speech-Language Pathologists there is opportunity to learn about communication disorders allowing for growth in one’s ability to successfully communicate with patients.

Shifts will be available on a short-notice on-call bases and/or blocks of shifts pre-scheduled to relieve leaves of absences. Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Receive 13% of straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. Opportunity to apply internally for regular openings as they become available.

Qualifications
Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
