Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care)

Position Summary

An exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner interested in working collaboratively with the Hospitalists at Kelowna General Hospital!

In this part time (0.80 FTE) position, the Nurse Practitioner will be a member of the Hospitalist team and will be responsible for the direct care of a group of inpatients. A population of focus will be the older adult patients admitted to the Hospitalist Program with sub - acute and complex chronic care needs. A high level of autonomy is expected along with collaboration, consultation and referrals to physicians and other members of the health care team. Together with another part time partner NP, seven day per week care is provided.

Days of work will be rotating on a seven day per week rotation with hours 07:00 to 17:00 hours. Statutory holidays included. No after hours on-call attached to this position. Credentialing and privileging to the acute care site will be required, in compliance with Medical Staff by-laws and rules.

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is the Central Okanagan’s primary acute care health facility and one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals. Qualifications

• Current Nurse Practitioner registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
• Successful completion of the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) and the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Centre) examinations.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Two years Nurse Practitioner clinical experience. Recent acute care experience is an asset.
• Strong general medicine/geriatric skills.
• ACLS and Blood transfusion education is an asset
