Position Summary

Kamloops Central Health is seeking to expand its Home Health Team and is inviting applications from Occupational Therapists.

We have Casual openings where days/hours of work is flexible, including weekends if preferred. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. As a Casual there is opportunity to work up to full time hours on a regular basis. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

What will you work on?
Occupational Therapy assessments of home health clients presenting with a wide range of diagnoses. Working collaboratively with the home health team to determine a treatment care plan. Guiding the work direction of Rehabilitation Assistants. There is Kamloops and rural coverage with a 1.5 hour distance requiring a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

How will you create impact?
Working with the acute care and residential (short stay bed) teams to optimize access and flow across the healthcare continuum for these clients. Aligning with the Ministry of Health goals of maintaining clients at home with the support they need.

Support and knowledge sharing from an established interdisciplinary team. Being part of the Home Health transformational work to ensure a team based care approach for each home health client. Numerous educational opportunities are available as part of this transformation work.

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking Occupational Therapists who work well within the team but also able to work independently with good people and communication skills. Ability to coach and educate clients. Willing to learn new skills.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized Occupational Therapy Program.
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
• Valid BC Driver’s license.
