Registered Nurse (RN/RPN) | Mental Health and Substance Use

Position Summary

We have exciting permanent full time opportunity for an experienced Mental Health & Substance Use Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Treatment, Support, and Recovery MH team at the Penticton Health Centre.

What will you work on?

This RN/RPN may be asked to support various teams in an integrated mental health and substance use service working with adults. The Treatment, Support, and Recovery team provide services to adults who suffer from a severe and persistent mental illness and aims to improve quality of life of these individuals by providing support to achieve their highest level of functioning.

As a member of the team you will provide assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. Functioning as the primary clinician, you will utilize a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Shifts of work are Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30 hours.


About this location/unit

The team supports people with serious severe and persistent mental health problems and/or problematic substance use who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment. The team helps people gain skills to live independently and supports to achieve their highest level of functioning and improve quality of life.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved school of nursing.

Two years’ recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Counselling & Treatment Services; Treatment, Support & Recovery Services; Crisis Response; Seniors MHSU Services; Substance Use; Developmental Disability Mental Health Services (DDMHS), etc.) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
