Registered Nurse (RN/RPN) | Mental Health and Substance Use

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to fill an exciting and rewarding Temporary Full Time opportunity until August 24, 2023 or until return of incumbent, within our amazing team at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, B.C.

About this location/unit
Our Psychiatric department is a 10 bed inpatient unit that includes 2 seclusion rooms. We have recently completed a department renovation with a focus on staff and patient safety. We have a very skilled and seasoned team that includes a team leader, 2 RNs working 12 hours shifts 24/7 with a 3rd RN on weekdays from 1000-1800 and weekends from 1000-1700, a unit clerk and 3 Psychiatrists. We provide group activities and skills development during the course of care.

What will you work on?
The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse provides: nursing care to psychiatric patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team; enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers; demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice; maintains and advances own clinical competence; participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
The shifts for this position are rotating days and nights from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 hours.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
• Two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Comments

Effective April 1, 2023 - hourly rate $40.21-$57.78 per hour.
