Registered Nurse | Perinatal

Position Summary

Put your Perinatal Nursing skills into full motion and join the passionate and welcoming nursing staff at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, in the beautiful community of Trail. KBRH is looking for a self-directed, motivated and reliable nurse who wants to work alongside a strong team to expand their nursing practice and skills set. We support ongoing cross training between maternity, peds and nursery as we are a combined unit.

What will you work on?

On Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital’s Maternal Child unit, you will have the opportunity to work with Antenatal, Intrapartum, and Postpartum patients and families. We are a combined unit that also has a pediatric department and NICU, and we also care for off service Medical/Surgical patients based on operational requirements. The position offers diversity and the ability to work with a variety of patient populations.

How will you create impact?

KBRH is the regional site that serves the majority of the West Kootenay Region. We provide maternity care for the continuum of pregnancy and postpartum, as well as pediatric inpatient services and a level 1b NICU.

How will we help you grow?

We provide a collaborative team approach with all members of our interdisciplinary team. We will provide you with an orientation and one on one with our regional perinatal educator to assess your needs, and determine how we can best support you. As a member of our team, you will have access to educational opportunities such as MoreOB events, ilearns, in-house training.

Who are we looking for?

This position would be suitable for a perinatal nurse with high and low risk delivery experience. Someone who is comfortable with their decision making abilities and is a team player. This position also offers Pediatric and NICU experiences so someone willing to learn new skills would be a great asset.

This is a temporary part-time (0.79 FTE) opportunity until March 12, 2024, or the return of the incumbent, working rotating days and nights.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

• Advanced preparation in a Perinatal clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education & experience.

• Current Fetal Health Surveillance.

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NPR) within 2 years.

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years.

Comments

Effective April 1, 2023 - hourly rate $40.21-$57.78 per hour.
