Position Summary
Casual MLT opportunity now available at the Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre in the friendly community of Merritt, B.C. This is a casual position will have rotating shifts of days, evening and nights.
The Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre has eight acute care inpatient beds and includes a 24/7 Emergency Department, Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, Public Health, Mental Health, Home and Community Care Nursing and Home Support and Lab and X-ray.
**This is a casual position which means that hours are not guaranteed and may vary. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internally posted vacancies including temporary and permanent positions.
What you will work on
As the MLT you will work independently within our supportive and cohesive team environment, providing vital Lab services for inpatients and outpatients from the Merritt community and surrounding areas. Typical duties include: routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, greeting patients, collecting and/or receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), validating/reporting test results, maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and control agents.

The city of Merritt offers a blend of country fun, an urban lifestyle and outdoor adventure! The city has a pleasant climate with lots of sunshine and very little rain throughout the year. There are two rivers, hundreds of lakes and numerous hiking and biking trails to enjoy in the surrounding area. Merritt is located 87km south of Kamloops and an easy 3hr drive 270km northeast of Vancouver.

Qualifications
Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
One (1) year recent related experience
