Certified Hand Therapy Occupational Therapist

Position Summary

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is looking for a Certified Hand Therapy (CHT) Occupational Therapist to join our Outpatient Hand Therapy team. If you are interested in Casual work within a hospital setting (i.e. clinics with physicians; intervention with a wide cope of CHT practice and a great team), we welcome receiving your application.

Following guidelines developed by third party agencies, for example the WorkSafe BC specific contract guidelines for a Hand Therapy Program, this position develops, plans, organizes, and implements a comprehensive Hand Therapy Program. Utilizing clinical best practice and a goal-directed, evidence-based approach, the Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing and developing comprehensive treatment plans for referred clients with hand and upper extremity dysfunction using appropriate therapeutic interventions.

Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. As a Casual there is opportunity to work up to full time hours on a regular basis within KGH and other Occupational Therapy rehabilitation settings within the Central Okanagan.

• Graduation from an approved program of Occupational Therapy.
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia and eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy.
• Current Hand Therapy Certification with the Hand Therapy Certification Commission.
• Minimum of two (2) years' recent, related experience (which includes at least one (1) year's experience in splinting/hand therapy) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
