Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Power Engineer IV – Maintenance Worker V to join our dedicated and supportive team at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, B.C
b]Effective April 1, 2023, hourly rate of pay is $34.52 per hour.
What will you work on
As the PE/MW you will operate and maintain a power plant or any low pressure steam plant by operating, repairing and carrying out preventative maintenance on the boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power, and other related equipment of the facility in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. The responsibilities include performing trades duties approaching the journeyman level in one or a variety of trades areas such as electrical, plumbing and painting in compliance with applicable codes and regulations and supervises Maintenance Workers and other designated staff.

We will assist with on going education that will keep you current in your field and systems that you need to maintain. We also provide internal education through i-learns. Your abilities to trouble shoot and repair all systems will grow as your exposure to all sites and systems expands.
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements may vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
• Grade 10, plus four years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Certificate of competency as 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
• Valid BC Driver’s License.
Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
