Director, Strategic Initiatives (WORKSITE LOCATION IS FLEXIBLE)

Position Summary

Interior Health has an opportunity for a Permanent Full Time Strategic Initiatives Director.

The Director, Strategic Initiatives provides leadership, strategic planning, and communications expertise serving as a key advisor to the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with the primary goal of supporting the execution of Interior Health’s strategic communications plan and enhancing senior level internal and external engagement and key partners.

Reporting to the VP, Communications and Culture, the Director is the integrator for a range of initiatives and plays a pivotal role to support the CEO in ensuring multiple strategic priorities are communicated frequently and effectively including facilitating communication with the Board of Directors. This position will lead special projects and programs including key strategic initiatives that impact the overall success of the organization and team culture initiatives to help support a healthy organization; projects will span beyond the scope of a single group, requiring cross-functional collaboration and partnerships.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develops reports to the Board of Directors and other materials to enhance the effectiveness and engagement between the CEO’s office, portfolios, and the Board.

• Maximizes efficiency and supports information sharing through the development of briefing notes, presentations, speaking notes, correspondence and other materials for internal and external engagements.

• Works closely with the CEO and VP, Communications and Culture to develop and maintain a corporate calendar and works across the organization and portfolio to drive the development of communication strategies and supporting materials to execute on IH’s Strategic Priorities and commitments.

• Works closely with the VP, Communications and Culture in the development of key performance indicators to monitor the effectiveness and impact of key strategies.

• Works to enhance cross-functional communications, in particular, ensuring linkages between and among the CEO’s office, Senior Executive Team (SET) members and their portfolios.

• Works collaboratively with the Director, Corporate and Digital Content to develops strategic communications plans and narratives to increase the visibility of the CEO to support effective in-person and virtual/digital communications with all audiences including employees, medical staff and volunteers, and key external health-care partners, and the general public.

• Drafts CEO communications related to Government of BC and IH key strategies across various audiences; assigns and oversees work of Communications staff as required.

• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external partners to support and advance IH goals and objectives.

• Undertakes the research to formulate policy and program recommendations that support and enhance IH-wide goals and Ministry requirements.

• Champions an environment that supports decision-making, accountability, and linkages at all levels in the organization.

• Serves on and/or provides support to IH-wide or department-specific project teams as assigned.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Dependent on the successful applicant, this position is eligible for relocation allowance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Seven to ten years of experience in a large, complex environment in progressively more responsible leadership/administration roles, including experience in research, policy development, and issues management. Experience in and knowledge of the BC health sector preferred.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Comments

The salary for this position is a Range 10 and follows the HEABC provincial compensation plan for excluded positions.
