Registered Nurse | Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Position Summary

We are seeking a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse to join our high functioning and supportive NICU team at Kelowna General Hospital. We are looking for a nurse who brings effective problem solving skills, is highly motivated, and can work well in a team environment.

Kelowna General Hospital’s Women’s and Children’s Services Department is a major referral centre for Interior Health. With five birthing rooms and 19 obstetrical beds, it sees 1,650+ deliveries a year. The perinatal department operates 24/7 with three RNs in labour and delivery (plus a Triage RN that works 1130—1930 Monday to Friday; and 0730—1930 Saturday and Sunday) and four RNs in Antepartum/Postpartum/Gyne Surgery at any given time. Nursing staff work in all areas and work Days (07:30 to 19:30) and Nights (19:30 to 07:30).

About the role:

The NICU department is one of two Level 2b or Tier 4 NICU’s in Interior Health caring for neonates less than or equal to 30 weeks gestation. It has 12 funded beds as it is a major referral centre for Interior Health. The department operates 24/7 with four RNs on staff at any given time. Nursing staff work Days (07:30 to 19:30) and Nights (19:30 to 07:30).

Nursing staff work in all areas. This is a RELEIF PART-TIME (0.69 FTE) opportunity until August 8, 2024. Shifts are rotating and shift times are Days 07:30 to 19:30 and Nights 19:30 to 07:30.

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Advanced preparation in Neonatal clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education & experience.

Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (within 2 years)

Current CPR (within 3 years)
