Technical Systems Analyst III | Application Support

Position Summary

Interior Health is currently seeking a project position full time Technical Systems Analyst III to join the Information Management Information Technology (IMIT) Application Support team. This project position is until December 29, 2023.

The location for this position is flexible within the Interior Health region.

Who are we looking for?


We are looking for someone with strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex topics while extracting details for further analysis, strong technical understanding of traditional application hosting and cloud hosting technologies. Experience with cloud migration preferably with Microsoft Azure but also other cloud platforms.

The preferred candidate must have cloud engineering / cloud reliability engineering certificates / diplomas. Current certifications or proven education focused on knowledge supporting major cloud vendors such as Microsoft, Amazon or Google.

What will you work on?

The Technical Systems Analyst participates in working groups focused on technical architecture. Attends regular meetings to advise and support dialogue between other Digital Health team members and vendors regarding cloud migration opportunities applying a lens of security/privacy/value/reliability and other technical standards. Works under the direction of Digital Health leadership and specifically Cloud Architecture.

The Technical Systems Analyst participates in the evaluation, planning, development, implementation, testing, maintenance and support of complex computer systems which may consist of servers, desktops, mobile, hand-held computer systems and other peripheral equipment throughout Interior Health. The Technical Systems Analyst will provide technical and consultative support and training to end-users and departmental staff within Interior Health where appropriate and will work closely with counterparts across the province on provincial initiatives and with key strategic partners to ensure IH desktop technical needs are met and maintained.

Some typical duties and responsibilities:

1. Participates in provincial technical committees and working groups to provide Interior Health input and expertise for workplace technology; assists in developing, implementing and supporting provincial standards for new and existing technologies using project management methodologies. Will act as a liaison between provincial committees and Interior Health; tests and evaluates new equipment and procedures; provides feedback and reports as necessary.

2. Provides technical support and consultation for complex systems applications such as integrated systems which impact several functional areas; participates in the development, design, implementation and systems administration for Interior Health on desktop, server and mobile computing hardware and software, such as workstations, laptops, pc tablets, printers, various hand-held devices and other peripheral equipment computer systems using project management methodologies.

3. Consults with client departments, other IMIT departments and key strategic partners to meet related individual, department, and corporate requirements. Provides informational input and expertise during acquisition of products and services and during development of project plans, project priorities and tactical plans as required.

4. Installs, configures, modifies and tests desktop, server and mobile computing hardware and software, such as workstations, laptops, pc tablets, printers, various hand-held devices and other peripheral equipment to ensure efficient operation and usage of the integrated computing environment.

5. Coordinates systems development projects as required; meets with managers to review current methodologies; identifies resource requirements; project milestone and deliverables; performs feasibility studies, cost/benefit analyses, project planning; maintains project documentation, evaluation criteria and authorizations.

6. Prepares work plans for implementation of hardware and software, and provides training or orientation to department staff and users.

7. Maintains working knowledge of current tools and techniques used in the information technology environment by methods such as researching on the Internet, technical journals, and industry related materials, meeting with vendors, identifying and planning for the impacts of future change.

8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

Graduation from a recognized technical degree or technical diploma program in Computer Science plus three years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A valid BC Driver license.
