Coordinator-Safety Strategy | Workplace Health & Safety (WORKSITE LOCATION IS FLEXIBLE)

Position Summary

Interior Health (IH) is hiring an exciting Permanent Full Time Coordinator, Safety Strategy to support the Workplace Health & Safety team.

The location of this position is flexible within the Interior Health region.

What will you work on?

The Coordinator, Safety Strategy participates as a key member of the Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) team by providing coordination and administrative support for the WHS strategy team activities and data requirements.

The Coordinator provides support for the strategic planning, development, implementation, sustainability, evaluation, and continuous improvement of an integrated system-based approach for all IH occupational health and safety (OHS) programs and practices.

Some typical duties and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates and supports the work of the strategic team by performing duties such as: tracking and monitoring follow-up and completion of action and issue items; reviewing current processes for efficiency, developing and managing tracking and monitoring processes and related work plans; coordinating and synthesizing input from strategy team members and stakeholders on specific issues; and compiling information such as data, briefings and project summaries for required submissions.

2. Maintains the tracking system for relevant metrics, accesses and compiles data for various initiatives.

3. Maintains reports and statistics, and conducts research/troubleshooting as needed.

4. Provides analytical support by compiling and manipulating information/data, developing and generating queries, and preparing and compiling reports.

5. Receives correspondence from key stakeholders (e.g. WSBC) and enters relevant information into appropriate database/tracking systems.

6. Provides support to the designated team members by assisting in the preparation of program materials such as posters/pamphlets, flow charts, surveys and educational materials.

7. Coordinates meetings in conjunction with the Health Service Assistant.

8. Coordinates and performs a variety of duties such as preparing correspondence, reports, minutes, charts, and graphs utilizing applicable software applications.

9. Supports the monitoring, auditing, and evaluation of OHS data and reports findings to the organization as requested or required.

10. Supports the monitoring and tracking of risk of assessment/exposure control plan/incident investigation completions.

11. Collaborates with IH departments to coordinate data reporting systems to support the strategy and organizational priorities.

12. Performs other duties as required.

Education, Training, and Experience:

• A diploma or degree in a related field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration, Human Resources, or Information Technology.
• Three to five years of related experience in Workplace Health & Safety or business administration.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of current trends in occupational health & safety and related best practice
• Ability to compile, analyze, and maintain statistical data
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
• Exceptional decision-making and analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a rapidly changing environment
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Power Point
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

Starting salary is approximately from 50K to 56K and will be based on education, training and experience.
