We have an exciting casual opportunity for an experienced Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Nurse (RN/RPN) to join our Outpatient Withdrawal Services team in Kelowna, B.C.
About this location/unit
This position will be part of a withdrawal management service program attached to the substance use department out of MHSU. The position will work of 505 Doyle Avenue and does include outreaching to clients home.
What will you work on?
In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, as well as within a client and family centered care model, this position practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The Registered Nurse functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) or Tertiary Mental Health Services care team and as a member of a designated multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems, and/or problematic substance use and/or development disability issues who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services. Working in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Counselling & Treatment Services; Treatment, Support & Recovery Services; Crisis Response; Seniors MHSU Services; Substance Use; Developmental Disability Mental Health Services (DDMHS), etc.) the Registered Nurse provides assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Registered Nurse functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families
Shift types are rotating days and shift times are from 09:00 to 17:00 hours. There is an on call component to these positions. Per 12 week rotation there are 11-12 on call shifts, Monday-Sunday 17:00-21:30.
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements may vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
Two years’ recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Counselling & Treatment Services; Treatment, Support & Recovery Services; Crisis Response; Seniors MHSU Services; Substance Use; Developmental Disability Mental Health Services (DDMHS), etc.) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
